Welcome friends of the quill to The NEW Emporium Gazette. What is this place? Call it a haven for authors who need to share their work with others, but with a discretionary eye.

You have a group of friends who critique and / or comment on your work. You painstakingly print out each revision and pass it around. Then you sit back and wait for them to read and make comments or mark up the sheets of paper. Then you collect all the various input from each.

Now you go through the quagmire of papers figuring out what each is saying.

Stop the pain! Go electronic! This is not your typical critique site. This place is the electronic version of what you are doing. Rather than you using your valuable ink and paper, post it to a secure web area and allow your friends to come in at their leisure to critique or comment. You can even allow them to edit your work... but they don't touch the original.

There is none of this 'you critique 3 stories THEN you can post yours for critique' nor is it where you get a review by some total stranger that you have no idea of their creditials. I've been there and done that. I spent my time playing by the rules of critiquing others then posted my work to get reviews. "Good job but you should have your hero use a spork." "Tend to use passive voice." "Nice story. Are you published?" That was my feedback. I was a little daunted by the 'spork' comment. Come to find out, after many emails with the person, he had just turned fourteen. I was in my late 40s at that time. A spork? Need I say more?

You already have your crew. Get with the technology of today!
